The Paper Edition of The Banner of Truth

The Banner of Truth paper editon is sponsored and supported by The Banner of Truth Fellowship, which presently meets in Merrillville, Indiana. If any are desiring to contact us, there is e-mail link at the bottom of this writing.

We are targeting readers who actually request the paper and, those who perceive the profitableness of the publication.  Also, we have interested readers who do not use the Internet and thus are unable to avail themselves of the articles that we have posted there on the The Banner of Truth InJesus site, and on The Banner of Truth Website (

We feel that we have things to say and minister that are profitable unto “edification, exhortation, and comfort” (I Cor. 14:3).  We are not seeking to be just another competitive voice amidst all the religious clamor and confusion of our day, but rather we are desirous of assisting men and women who are earnest about the things of God and the faith of the Lord Jesus Christ to make their “calling and election sure” (II Pet. 1:10).
The faith of Christ must be nourished and maintained if men are to successfully fight the good fight of faith, and lay hold on the eternal life, to the which they have been called (cf. I Tim. 6:12). Faith, that is not regularly nourished, is doomed to fail, ceasing to be of eternal profit to men. And, of course, if men do not reap eternal profit from the faith which they profess, it is actually of no profit at all.

In The Banner of Truth there are both shorter and longer articles, and, as well, there are quotations by various believers, and poetic expressions. There are writings that are written by those who are younger in the faith, but there are also articles by some that have been in the faith of Christ for most, or the better part of their lives. In The Banner of Truth paper edition you will see that there are a variety of “voices”, but also that there is much agreement in the truth of Scripture.  Jesus said, “You shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free” (Jn. 8:32).

The Savior declared of Himself in another place, “I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by Me” (Jn. 14:6).  When we speak here of the truth, we are not speaking of opinions, or viewpoints held by various groups, but rather of truth that centers in, and is grounded in, the Person of the Lord Jesus Christ.  Truth is directly associated with salvation from sin, with the gospel of Christ, and with readying men to live in the eternal ages to come (cf. Eph. 1:13; Col. 1:5).  The truth, when believed, sets men free from moral, and religious bondage. And this freedom is real and it is substantive. It is freedom that greatly rejoices the heart when it is tasted of.

The Banner of Truth was begun, and edited for the first 31 years, by Fred O. Blakely.  In the paper you will find many of his articles as most of them are very concentrated in their expression and timeless in their content. Several us look to him as a pattern for expressing ourselves in the truth. We pray that in all these things that God will be glorified through Jesus Christ. Al Stoner, Editor
